Abstract: This will be a survey talk about homological properties of the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand category O associated with a triangular decomposition of a semi-simple complex finite dimensional Lie algebra. Blocks of O are module categories over finite dimensional associative algebras having many nice properties and symmetries, inclduing quasi-heredity, Ringel self-duality, Koszul self-duality, Auslander regularity etc. I will try to present a number of results describing homological properties and invariants for these blocks and describe both methods and tools which are used to establish these results.
